Athens First Cemetery
That’s a tombstone I could warm to.
The Circle of Lebanon in Highgate Cemetery West. A nice contrast between the Egyptian style older tombs on the inside of the circle and the later neo-gothic ones on the outside.
The Circle of Lebanon – So called because of the cedar in the middle, which predated the cemetery. Unfortunately, that cedar has since died and had to be removed.

This grave is empty yet and without epitaph - yet it is in one of the most central spots.
A scanned slide from 1994, from my first visit to Highgate. Unfortunately, I never found Dr Pratelli’s grave again, and nobody at the cemetery seems to know about it. If I hadn’t taken the photo at the time, I’d start to think I made it up myself…
