Plywood

Plywood is manufactured from thin layers or “plies” of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their grain rotated relative to one another. It is an engineered wood from the family of manufactured boards which includes medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and particle board (chipboard). I’m using various types and sizes of plywood, from 1mm aviation ply to 5mm beech.

This is a small box cut from 4mm beech ply. Laser cutting it allowed me to keep the cuts so exact, they hold together by friction alone. I had to assemble the box with gentle taps of a hammer, and opening it without some kind of shim is nearly impossible.
